Sorry my summer travel post is soooo delayed but there's ALOT to talk about! This summer has been the best summer of my life so far. I've seen different corners and cultures of the world, met a whole bunch of amazing new people and gained life long memories.
Thailand:
Patrick and I arrived in Bangkok, Thailand and with in a few hours we were on the over-night train. We were heading South to Krabi, to then board a boat to out first island; Koh Pahgyan. The first night on the island was the Full moon party! Youths from around the globe gathered on the beach embalmed in UV paint.
Tips for Koh Pahgyan
- DO NOT WEAR WHITE for the full moon party and prepared to get in the sea!
- Get a motorbike helmet!
-visit mushroom mountain.
- watch the sunrise on the beach
- try the unregulated Chang beer!
- keep hold of your flip flops! People style them!!!
After the full moon party we headed to Koh Phi Phi, which was on the other side of mainland Thailand. Phi Phi was beautiful and my favourite island! Again we partied on beach every night, watched fire poi and danced on podiums.
- Brave the stairs and go to the viewpoint! The whole view of the island is breathtaking and after drinking copious buckets of alcohol, the exercise is well needed!
-take a boat tour to the island where the 'beach' was filmed. Snorkel and see the psychedelic fish. Visit monkey island but stay in your boat! Monkeys are very brave and bighty....
- get a bamboo tattoo
- get an oil Thai massage... It will change your world and make you crave one everyday!
-try Thai green curry... Local food tends to be cheaper than American or Italian.
After Phi phi we visited Phuket. We didn't like Phuket.... Very touristy, expensive and people pester your in the street with merchandise and club deals. By this point, we were all ill due to alcohol, drinking tap water and spicy food.
- Ride elephants. This was the only highlight of Phuket. They are beautiful creatures!
From Phuket we took a cheap plain to Udon Thani, in the north of Thailand. We then crossed the boarder via a mini bus to Vientiane, Laos.
-check out Buddha park to see the giant lying Buddha
-buy merchandise, trainers, boho jewellery and sunglasses from the famous night market.
From Vientiane we got a mini bus to rural viang veng, another one of my favourite places.
- don't expect amazing food!
-go to a jungle party!
-go tubing done the Mekong river and play beer pong!
- go kayaking, visit the elephant temples and have your fortune read and explore the caves!
- Respect the locals and religious places by covering up. Don't walk around in just a bikini.
From there we went back on our selfs to Udon Thani airport where we travelled to Bangkok. where we went for a weekend of fun before Cambodia. Bangkok tips:
- stay near Ko San road strip where the best clubs and bars live on.
-stay in a dorm and recruit new Pals.
- a have a balloon or two.
- visit a ping pong show...you will question where, how and why.... The vagina is an amazing thing.... That's all I'm gonna spill
Siem Reap, Cambodia. Cambodia was beautiful but Angkor watt was very very touristy! Which is not my bag...
- Be careful at the boarder. The bus driver took us to a room where they over charged for the Visas and passport photos! It all looks very dodgy! Walk to the boarder to the Police station and pay for the Visa there!
- visit Angkor watt and pay for a tour guide!
-cover shoulders for temples with a jacket! No scarves aloud!
- visit the markets!
-visit the notorious Angkor watt bar with its Uv walls!
-avoid children asking for money to buy milk, it's a con.
So there's my Asian Adventure!!!
